Description
A big THANK YOU to the buyer from Vacaville, California, who purchased a throw pillow with this image on 05.14.15, my first sale on Fine Art America. I pray for God's blessings to go with the artwork that is ordered from my portfolio. May you enjoy your purchase! God bless you!
(Pictured) An industrious honey bee harvests pollen from a white rock rose (Helianthemum apenninum) in landscaping at a parking lot in Vacaville, California.
This photograph was taken on the premises of the place where I purchased the camera which was used to take this picture.
Did you know :: One in every three mouthfuls of food is pollinated either directly or indirectly by honey bees, making them an important part of the health of our economy and ecology. Bee pollination accounts for $15 billion in increased crop value annually in the U.S.
However, it is estimated the number of managed beehives has decreased by 50%, from five million in the 1940s to only 2.5 million today.
A recently named phenomenon called "Colony Collapse Disorder" or CCD has decimated millions of honey-producing hives in North America. CCD is when worker bees en mass suddenly and mysteriously disappear from the hive and never return. According to the USDA, annual honey bee colony losses from 2006 to 2011 averaged 33 percent yearly, with a third of those losses attributed to CCD by beekeepers. In 2012-2013, CCD was blamed for the loss of one half of the U.S. beehives.
As of this writing, scientists are unsure what causes CCD, although a combination of factors are being analyzed.
In the meantime, we can do our part by using natural alternatives to chemical pesticides and by planting honey-bee friendly flowering plants, as well as encouraging our friends and neighbors to do the same.
"Pleasant words are honeycomb -- sweet to the soul and healing to the bones." Proverbs 16:24, Tree of Life Version

The yellow glow within the blossom creates a fine focal shape to surround the honey bee - an industrious worker, as revealed in your description. Favorite!
