Description
A honeybee prepares to visit a Spanish lavender plant (Lavandula stoechas), a good choice to feature in the garden to attract these VIPs - Very Important Pollinators.
I am grateful to God for my Mom's encouragement to get out my camera for this photo shoot. When she saw this picture, she remarked the bee looks like it is "coming in for a landing", hence the title to this piece. Thanks, Mom! :-)
Did you know :: One in every three mouthfuls of food is pollinated either directly or indirectly by honey bees, making them an important part of the health of our economy and ecology. Bee pollination accounts for $15 billion in increased crop value annually in the U.S.
We can each do our part to assure the health of these essential pollinators by using pesticide-free alternatives in our gardening, planting honey bee-friendly plants, and encouraging our neighbors and friends to do the same.
"The law of the Lord is perfect, restoring the [whole] person; the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple.
The precepts of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the Lord is pure and bright, enlightening the eyes.
The [reverent] fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever; the ordinances of the Lord are true and righteous altogether.
More to be desired are they than gold, even than much fine gold; they are sweeter also than honey and drippings from the honeycomb."
Psalm 19:7-10
